Traci Powell, PT, DPTDoctor of Physical Therapy/Owner Traci L. Powell graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. She moved to Corpus Christi in 1998 and graduated from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi in 2003 with a Master of Business Administration. While completing her MBA she was concurrently enrolled in a doctorate program at the University of St. Augustine. Traci graduated from the University of St. Augustine on April 11, 2008 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. On March 9, 2012, NewStride Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation will celebrate its eighth successful year in business under Traci’s leadership. She is dedicated to the art and science of spinal mobilization and orthopedic rehabilitation; thus is committed to life long learning. Traci is also a fitness advocate. She completed the Austin Motorola Marathon in 2004 and participates in the MS 150, a 150 mile bike ride from San Antonio to Corpus Christi. She is a Comprehensive Peak Pilates® certified trainer and enjoys working out on the Pilates reformer and assisting clients to meet their fitness goals. TPowell@newstridept.com |
Brooke Thorpe, MSPTMasters of Science Physical Therapist Although born in Pennsylvania, Brooke was raised in Corpus Christi and graduated from W.B. Ray High School. Brooke received her Bachelors degree in Biology from Texas A&M in College Station. She went on to receive her Masters in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman's University in Houston in 1997. Brooke began her practice in hospital based rehabilitation, but found her calling when she began work in the outpatient setting in 2000. In 2001, Brooke received her Herdman certification as a vestibular therapist. Since then, she has enjoyed working with orthopedic and neurological patients and continues to have a particular interest in helping people with dizziness and balance disorders. Brooke is committed to the community and is active with the Junior League of Corpus Christi. She and her loving husband have two beautiful daughters. BThorpe@newstridept.com |
Steve Castillo, PTAPhysical Therapy Assistant Steve was born and raised in Corpus Christi. He graduated from Del Mar College as a Physical Therapist Assistant in July of 2000. He has experience in in-patient and out-patient settings. He started working for New Stride in March of 2006. Christy Sadler GormanCertified Method Pilates Instructor Christy Sadler Gorman is a Certified Instructor of the Method Pilates and has been comprehensively trained through the Physical Mind Institute. Her certification process includes training in PilateSystem at Studio 107 in Tyler, Texas and with PilatesWorks in Austin, Texas. She began teaching Pilates at Stephen F. Austin State University in 2002 and has served as senior Pilates trainer with BodyBusiness Health Club in Austin. Christy has worked extensively with Peak Pilates Certified Trainer and Pilates Educator, Julie Williams. Holding a BFA and MA in dance, Christy also brings an extensive background in dance education, performance, and choreography to her instruction. With 30 years of body movement experience, she has also served on the faculties at the University of Houston, Houston Ballet Academy, Austin’s Tapestry Dance Academy and St. Stephen’s Episcopal School. Oscar F. FloresMassage Therapist Oscar F. Flores, a native of Corpus Christi, Texas, is a nationally certified massage therapist and is a Texas registered massage therapist. His work includes scar tissue massage, soft tissue manipulation, lymphatic drainage, and many other therapeutic massage techniques. Oscar loves to laugh and tell jokes. Although it is said that laughter is the best medicine, Oscar’s healing hands certainly can ease many a pain. Committed to continue his hands-on techniques and to increase his availability to the North Padre Island, Port Aransas, and Corpus Christi residents, Oscar joined the NewStride team. Norma LozanoOperations Manager Norma Lozano has worked with physical therapy clinics since 1998, and enjoys all the great people she has met. She was born and raised in South Texas, and now resides in Ingleside. She is truly the glue that holds the clinics together and great humor that makes working at NewStride a lot of fun.
